Prep for Pre-Leg 2
Posted: November 13th, 2007
And now the flurry of activity between Pre-Leg 1 and Pre-Leg 2 begins. There is a lot of work to do and not a lot of time to do it, so let’s get going…
- Legislators – Hopefully, you took good notes about all of the points brought up during the discussion time for your bill. You can still amend your bill on your own, so if you have some holes to fill or there was confusion about a particular part, you may still add, modify or remove parts of your bill. See our Pre-Leg guide for all of the details.
- Judicial - Be very familiar with all of the provided resources for your assigned case by reading (and rereading) the Trial facts, Appeal facts, and each of the cited cases listed in the Appeal facts. Fact documents and cases are available from your advisor or this site. Also, bring copies of these materials with you to Pre-Leg 2.
- Lobbyists – Time to dig in and start writing your position paper. You can bypass formatting yours by using our position paper template. For all of the details on what to do to prepare for Pre-Leg 2 and what you will be doing when you get there, please see pages 6-7 of the Lobbyist Handbook.
- Newspaper Press – Between now and Pre-Leg 2, you should revise and rewrite your story that was critiqued at Pre-Leg 1 and write the new story that you were assigned. Be sure to bring 3 copies of both to Pre-Leg 2.
Also, please note that not all Pre-Leg 2 sessions are on the same weekend this year. The Region 3 Pre-Leg held in Williamsville will take place on December 1. Regions 1 & 2 will be held the next weekend on December 7 & 8.
